Request for Proposals: Nourishing Neighbors Nutrition Security Grant

The grant aims to support programs that are enhancing or connecting individuals to SNAP/WIC program.

Albertsons Companies Foundation is thrilled to announce our upcoming RFP for our September 2023 campaign. 

Campaign Overview:

 

Our stores will be raising funds throughout the month of September, and the raised funds will be used to support and connect individuals to the SNAP/WIC federal meals programs.

 

Grant Allocation Guidelines:

 

The grant funds will be allocated based on the state’s participation rate in the SNAP program.

 

  1. For states with under 81% participation in SNAP:

 

    • The majority of the funds will be utilized to facilitate the enrollment of individuals into federal programs such as SNAP/WIC. This can include, but not limited to:
    • Supporting SNAP/WIC enrollment salaries at health clinics, food pantries etc.
    • Supporting SNAP/WIC outreach programs
    • Setting up booths at established job fairs, food distribution sites, etc. to assist with eligibility and screening.
    • Removing barriers to SNAP/WIC enrollment, such as providing transportation support.

 

  1. For states with over 80% participation in SNAP:

Consideration can be given to other program enhancement initiatives, such as produce incentives etc.

Applications Due Date:

Friday, August 11  by 11:59pm Pacific time

Time Terms:                                  

November 2023 – November 2024

Geographic Restriction:              

Applications will only be considered for organizations working in counties where we have stores. Please see the attached list of counties where we operate.

Maximum Grant Amount:          

Up to $100,000

Funding allocation will be determined based on the specific needs outlined in your application. We strongly encourage applicants to request the precise amount needed to adequately fund their proposed efforts and needs. Please note that allocated funds will be directly proportional to the activities proposed.

Funds raised will remain within the local community where they are raised.  Based on the attached store list, estimate the funds available in your catchment area, with the average store raising approximately $2,500.

Other Eligibility:                            

Organizations must be a 501c3 designated charitable organization or a K-12 school

 

 

When submitting your application, please provide as much specific detail as possible regarding how you plan to utilize the funding if your organization is selected.

 

This funding opportunity is made possible by the Albertsons Companies Foundation (national name) which operates locally under different banner names.  If your proposal is approved, you will receive materials related to the appropriate banner of the Foundation recognition purposes and contact information for the local division.

    I'm a new food director for the Caldwell Community Service Center. We distribute food, clothing and smal housewares. We have been experiencing more people coming to us and the food bank is not as flush as it was in the past. I"m confused about the August 11 deadline since I'm in September now.
