Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties
Jewish Family Service (JFS) is a 501c3 non-profit agency, founded in the early 1900’s as a volunteer organization that provided services to refugees, the elderly, and the poor. We continue to provide to the community in various ways. Now, volunteers can deliver pantry bags to community members, spend time with a senior, or help out with one of our fundraisers.

Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ)
CFBNJ is a member of Feeding America®, is the leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state. What started as a modest enterprise in the back of our founder’s station wagon in downtown Newark in 1975, became an incorporated non-profit in 1982 and has grown to two warehouse facilities in Hillside and Egg Harbor Township, and an auxiliary storage facility in East Windsor. These locations serve area programs and community partners – over 800 in 15 of 21 New Jersey counties. We package food orders for local soup kitchens and food pantries; we purchase and collect food for distribution; help people in need through SNAP application assistance; reach communities with limited resources with mobile pantries; and encourage others to get involved.
Address: 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside, NJ 07205
Website: www.cfbnj.org
How to Sign Up: Depending on the day's needs, volunteers working at CFBNJ's Hillside warehouse location might be involved in packing boxes of shelf-stable food for our Emergency Meal Kits or Senior Boxes distributed to our neighbors in need; packing boxes for our Family (Back) Pack Program, weekend groceries including produce that school-aged children who benefit from federally funded meals take home to their families; preparing meals in our production kitchen for our child nutrition programs and other initiatives; packaging, labeling and boxing bulk pasta in our Clean Room, a staple of our food boxes and orders to pantry partners; sorting, categorizing and packing donated food and product including produce in our Repack area. Each of these activities supports CFBNJ's feeding and food distribution to neighbors in need in New Jersey. The FoodBank will, on occasion have virtual volunteering or offsite opportunities.

Branches Outreach Center of Rio Grande
Branches Outreach Center of Rio Grande serves the homeless and marginalized in Cape May County. We are a non-profit 501(c)3. Our day-center is open from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM Monday thru Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 12 noon. Our Food Pantry is located two doors away and is open Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 1. We have a new facility one block away on Hirst Avenue that should open shortly.
We provide breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages. Our advocates assist clients with information and referrals for shelter, subsidized housing, referrals for drug and alcohol treatment, and those experiencing mental health issues. They also assist with unemployment, disability forms, while interacting with Acenda Psychological Services, the Recovery Center, CARA and Family Promise. We assist with Zoom court appearances and attending court hearings. We do whatever it takes to assist those in need. Our Mobile Food Pantry goes out twice a week to two local motels where families with small children live in very small quarters. Their only source of cooking is a microwave or hot plate. We also have a stocked clothes closet providing coats, tents, clothing, personal care items, diapers and formula. A shower is available - especially for those going to job interviews. We have a Director, an Administrator, in addition to twenty volunteers, three of which are advocates.
During Code Blue we are open for food and beverages until the shuttle arrives for the Warming Center, while distributing warm coats and clothing when requested. We stay open until everyone has departed, safe and sheltered. There is no homeless shelter in Cape May County, therefore our mission to assist those in need is great and increases daily.
Address: 1304 Rt. 47 South, Unit AH, Rio Grande, NJ 08242
How to Sign Up: We plan an ambitious School Year-Long Breakfast Back-Pack Program for weekends for children in the Middle Township Schools PreK-12. We are very excited and would gladly welcome Acme/Albertsons associates or customer volunteers. In addition, we also plan to extend the hours of our Food Pantry to evenings. There is always a need for additional volunteer support. Our Facebook page is useful. Potential volunteers are always welcome to stop into Branches and our Food Pantry to take a tour and speak with our staff.
