Volunteer Opportunities:
How and where can I volunteer?
There are several ways to give your time to those who need it most. Opportunities to volunteer are available in Addison, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Chittenden counties.
You can volunteer as an individual or team! Several local businesses and community groups create volunteer teams.
What time of day can I volunteer?
Meals on Wheels are delivered weekday mornings and all other volunteers assist clients Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
Work with our experts at Age Well to be matched with an individual who needs in home support in one or more of the following areas:
- General: Errands such as picking up groceries or prescriptions
- Technology Assistance: Help with TV remotes, iPads, cell phones, etc.
- Financial Assistance: Helping clients with visual or mild cognitive impairment balance their check book and help writing out checks
- Friendly Visiting: Matched based on common interests with the hope of developing an ongoing supportive relationship that spans months to years
- Groceries & Errands: We match volunteers to a client that needs weekly or bi-monthly help getting groceries and running errands. The volunteer takes the client shopping which also serves as a social outing. Due to COVID-19 we are doing the shopping for the client.
- Meals on Wheels: Volunteers are assigned a weekly or bi-weekly route in their community. Meals are delivered between 9 am and 1:00 pm, depending on the area, so the client has the meal for lunch time.
- Minor Home Repairs: This involves a variety of things such as: opening and closing storm windows, repairing screens, replacing stairs, changing batteries in smoke detectors, fixing leaky faucets, assembling furniture, etc.
- Office Assistance for Age Well Programs: Includes assisting with mailings, copying, packing, and more.

All volunteers must pass Age Well’s background screening process, attend orientation and complete an interview.
Once the signed Volunteer Information form is received, Age Well conducts a background check. This usually takes around 48 hours to be completed. Once the results are received, our volunteer coordinator will contact you for an interview, provide orientation training information, and discuss volunteer opportunities and scheduling.
Additional training is required for the following programs: Meals on Wheels, Respite support and State Health Insurance Program.
Please fill out the Volunteer Information Form, pdfBackground Check Form (4.54 MB) , and e-mail them to volunteer@agewellvt.org. Please also include a headshot of yourself for your Age Well Volunteer ID badge. We look forward to hearing from you!
