Reflecting on 2025: A Year of Impact, Innovation and Hope from Albertsons Companies Foundation and Nourishing Neighbors

As we step into a new year, we pause to celebrate the incredible progress we’ve made together in 2025 through the Albertsons Companies Foundation and our flagship initiative, Nourishing Neighbors. This year marked our 11th anniversary, and with it, a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to ending hunger in the communities we serve.
Our Impact in Numbers
- 1.3 billion meals delivered since 2014
- More than $330 million contributed toward hunger relief
- Over 90 million meals enabled in 2025 alone
- More than 900 organizations supported nationwide
Behind every number is a story, a family that didn’t have to skip a meal, a senior who didn’t have to choose between groceries and medication, a child who could start the school day nourished and ready to learn. That’s the real impact.
Highlights from 2025
- Holiday Gift Cards: Distributed $13 million in gift cards to food banks, our sixth-year empowering families with the dignity of choice during the holidays.
- Innovation Spark Grants: Awarded grants from $200,000 to $900,000 to five nonprofits creating long-term solutions for food security, part of our $10 million annual commitment to ending the cycle of hunger through various initiatives.
- Hunger Action Month: In partnership with our customers, Nourishing Neighbors raised $4.9 million, funding grants for more than 100 local food banks and pantries, ensuring every dollar stayed in local communities.
- SummerEBT.org: Helped thousands of families access $7.8 million in USDA Summer EBT benefits, reducing child hunger during summer months. Albertsons Cos. Foundation collaborates with leading non-profits to raise awareness to increase participation in the program.
- Million Hour Volunteer Rally: Surpassed one million volunteer hours, valued at $600,000, providing critical support to food banks nationwide as they face a shortage of volunteers. This nationwide campaign invites customers, associates and partners to donate their time and skills.
- O Organics Fight Hunger, Serve Hope: Albertsons Cos.’ private label brand O Organics contributed $5 million, equivalent to 20 million meals, to the Nourishing Neighbors program to fund grants aimed at enhancing school breakfasts, providing weekend breakfast food and many other breakfast-related initiatives.

- Progressive Grocer Impact Awards in two categories: Community Service/Local Impact category for our Million Hour Volunteer Rally and Food Security/Nutritional Leadership for our efforts with SummerEBT.org.
- Gold Halo Award for Best Technology for Good Initiative, honoring our commitment and collaboration on SummerEBT.org.
- The Community Hero Award at the 2025 Goodie Awards, recognizing our best-in-class approach to grantmaking and measurable impact in local communities.
Caring for Our Communities and Our People
Our commitment extends to our associates as well. Through We Care, we supported more than 600 associates, providing over $1 million in grants and continued partnerships offering housing support, financial coaching and wraparound resources.

If there’s one lesson from 2025, it’s the power of collaboration. When we unite around a shared mission, we create measurable, lasting impact. Every milestone this year reflects what’s possible when partnerships deepen and voices align.

Looking Ahead
With an ambitious goal to enable an additional 1.5 billion meals by 2030, Albertsons Cos. is building on its Recipe for Change® impact framework to drive lasting change. This commitment will be powered by surplus food donations and Foundation fundraising, alongside the Nourishing Neighbors program’s continued investment of $10 million annually in initiatives such as the Innovation Spark Fund, E.A.T. curriculum for students and a summer hunger coalition, all aimed at breaking the cycle of food insecurity.
