New York: Local Impact
Hunger Statistics in New York:
Hunger affects communities across New York, touching people of all ages, backgrounds, and zip codes.

According to this latest data, 14.5% of New Yorkers—about one in seven people—experienced food insecurity, while 19.0% of children lacked reliable access to enough food. (Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap 2025, based on 2023 estimates.)
That child food insecurity rate represents an estimated 765,726 New York kids (19.0% of the 2023 child population)—enough to fill Yankee Stadium (46,537 seats) about sixteen times.

About 2,831,080 people across New York face hunger. This challenge exists in every county, affecting urban, suburban, and rural communities alike.
Many households experiencing food insecurity earn too much to qualify for federal nutrition programs and instead rely on New York food banks and their network of local partner agencies to meet basic food needs.
Partner Stories
Hunger Free America
Through Nourishing Neighbors, our partnership with Hunger Free America focuses on removing the barriers that prevent families from accessing long‑term nutrition support. By investing in SNAP outreach, enrollment, and navigation, we help ensure neighbors aren’t blocked by complex systems or technical challenges—and can successfully connect to federally funded benefits that provide consistent access to food month after month.
This work goes beyond immediate relief. By strengthening enrollment systems, supporting skilled navigators, and sharing scalable best practices across the hunger‑relief field, our partnership unlocks lasting impact—helping families achieve stability, restoring dignity, and multiplying the reach of every dollar invested. Together, we are proving that connecting people to sustainable programs is one of the most powerful ways to end hunger for good.
